Working with Students with Autism Spectrum Disorder in Alternative Schools

Abstract:

Aktuálně v českém vzdělávání probíhá snaha o inkluzi žáků se speciálními vzdělávacími potřebami. Mezi tyto žáky patří také děti s poruchou autistického spektra (PAS). Dle výzkumů počty diagnostikovaných dětí s PAS rostou – mnohdy se hovoří až o epidemii autismu. Aktuálně však také narůstají počty žáků vzdělávaných v alternativních školách. V mé práci výše zmíněné aspekty propojuji a zaměřuji se na práci s žáky s PAS v prostředí alternativních škol. Cílem mé práce je odpovědět na otázky týkající se žáků s PAS a jejich pozice v kolektivu, individuálního přístupu k těmto žákům a také vnímání profesní sebeúčinnosti učitelů v oblasti práce s žáky s PAS. Pro mé výzkumné šetření jsem použila metodu kvalitativního polostrukturovaného rozhovoru s osmi učiteli alternativních škol, kteří pracují s žáky s PAS.V mé práci se snažím zjistit, jak učitelé práci s žáky s PAS vnímají.

Abstract:

There is an effort of inclusion of pupils with special educational needs in the Czech educational system at present. Children with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) also belong to these pupils. According to the research the numbers of children with ASD are growing – they often speak about the epidemy of autism. Numbers of pupils educated in alternative schools also grow nowadays. I connect these above mentioned aspects and focus on the work with pupils with ASD in the alternative school environment. The aim of my work is answering the questions concerning the pupils with ASD and their place in the group, individual attitude to these pupils and professional self-efficacy of the teachers in the area of working with the pupils with ASD. For my research investigation I used a method of qualitative semi-structured interview with eight teachers of alternative schools, who work with the pupils with ASD. In my work I try to find out how the teachers feel about the work with the ASD pupils. Knowledge emerging from my investigative research can be an inspiration for the pedagogues (and not only for the pedagogues) who work with ASD children, for example regarding the effective strategies for work with these children.
