Práce se zabývá informací z hlediska Marcii J. Batesové a Birgera Hjørlanda. Tito in-formační vědci chápou informaci každý svým způsobem, což je důvodem sporu o povaze tohoto pojmu. Informace nese mnoho významů a v informační vědě neexis-tuje jednotná teorie či definice, která by byla přijata. Práce je teoretická a stojí na komparaci jednotlivých tvrzení. The work deals with information from the point of view of Marcia J. Bates and Birger Hjørland. These information scientists understand information in their own way, which is the reason for the dispute about the character of this concept.
