The Phenylketonuria - The Genetic, Biochemical and Medical Context

Abstract:

Fenylketonurie je dědičně podmíněná metabolická choroba, která způsobuje neschopnost organismu zpracovat aminokyselinu fenylalanin. Tak vznikají v organismu patologické procesy, které při nedodržení léčby vedou k nevratnému poškození mozku a mentální retardaci. Práce se zabývá vznikem nemoci, její diagnostikou, léčbou a četností výskytu v České republice a zemích Evropské unie.

Abstract:

Phenylketonuria is inherited metabolic disease, which causes failure of amino acid phenylalanine metabolism. In this way is formed pathological process that leads to irreversible damage of brain and mental retardation if therapy fails. This thesis deals with formation, diagnosis, treatment and occurrence of this disease in Czech Republic and countries of the Europe Union.
