Preparation and ion chromatography determination of linear and cyclic condensed phosphates

Abstract:

V rámci této diplomové práce byly analyzovány některé kondenzované fosforečnany metodou iontové chromatografie. Byly stanoveny podmínky pro analýzu trifosforečnanu, trimetafosforečnanu, tetrafosforečnanu a tetrametafosforečnanu sodného na koloně Separon HEMA S 1000 Q-L, při použití mobilní fáze kyselina pyromellitová + EDTA. Tetrafosforečnan sodný a tetrametafosforečnan sodný nejsou komerčně dostupné chemikálie a proto bylo nutné je laboratorně připravit. Jejich struktura byla ověřena rentgenovou difrakční analýzou.Byly stanoveny retenční charakteristiky pro kondenzované fosforečnany v závislosti na pH mobilní fáze a v závislosti na koncentraci kyseliny pyromellitové v mobilní fázi. Za optimálních podmínek byly následně analyzovány vzorky hexametafosforečnanů od různých výrobců, ve kterých byl stanoven obsah trifosforečnanu, trimetafosforečnanu, tetrafosforečnanu a tetrametafosforečnanu sodného.

Abstract:

In this thesis some condensed phosphates were analyzed by ion-exchange chromatography. The conditions for sodium tripolyphosphate, trimetaphosphate, tetrapolyphosphate and tetrametaphosphate determination were set using Separon HEMA S 1000 Q-L column and pyromellitic acid with EDTA as a mobil phase. Sodium tetrapolyphosphate and sodium tetrametaphosphate are noc comercially produced chemicals, and therefore it was necessary to prepare it in the laboratory. The structures of prepared compounds were proved by X-ray diffraction.The retention characteristics were determined for the condensed phosphates depending on the pH of the mobile phase and depending on the concentration of pyromellitic acid in the mobile phase. The samples of sodium hexametaphosphate form different producers were analyzed then under the optimal conditions and the amnount of sodium tripolyphosphate, trimetaphosphate, tetrapolyphosphate and tetrametaphosphate were determined.
