Academic Career from Graduates of Doctoral Study Programme Perspective

Abstract:

Tato magisterská diplomová práce se zabývá možnostmi akademické kariéry držitelů titulu Ph.D. pohledem absolventů doktorského studia, kteří odešli z akademického prostředí. V teoretické části práce jsou popsány základní rysy doktorského studia ve vybraných zahraničních zemích a v České republice a problematika týkající se současné situace doktorského studia a držitelů Ph.D., včetně masifikace vysokého školství, nezaměstnanosti absolventů a financování veřejných vysokých škol a vědy a výzkumu ovlivňující finanční hledisko doktorského studia a následného úvazku na vysoké škole. Empirická část obsahuje kvalitativní šetření realizované formou polostrukturovaných rozhovorů s absolventy oboru Kinantropologie Masarykovy univerzity, kteří odešli z akademického prostředí. Cílem tohoto výzkumu bylo odpovědět na otázku: Jaký je pohled vybraných absolventů doktorského studia na možnosti kariéry v akademickém prostředí? Pro komplexnost odpovědi byly zkoumány názory vybraných absolventů na podmínky a okolnosti jejich doktorského studia, možnosti akademické kariéry a příčiny jejich odchodu z akademického prostředí.

Abstract:

This master thesis deals with posibilities of academic careers of PhD holders seen from doctoral studies graduates, who have left academic environment, point of view. In the theoretical part are described basic characteristics of doctorate studies in selected foreign countries and in Czech republic and problematics related to current situation of doctoral studies and PhD holders, including massification of higher education, unemployment of doctoral graduates and financing of higher education and science and research and its influence on financial aspect of doctoral studies and following working time on a university. Empirical part contais qualitative research carried out in form of semi-structured interviews with Kinanthropology field grauates of Masaryk University, who have left academic environment. The aim of this thesis is to answer a question: What is the perspective of selected doctoral studies graduates of academical career possibilities? For the complexity of the answer on this question were researched opinions of selected graduates on conditions and circumstances of their doctoral studies, academical career possibilities and reasons for their departure from academical environment.
