Abstract:

The significance of authenticity in art raises questions about the concept of "original" or "authentic" artwork. Typically, it refers to art that has not been derived from or imitated from others' work. However, if we accept this definition, then the notion of a completely original artwork becomes obsolete, as all artists draw inspiration from a shared visual history. Our ability to create is influenced by what we have observed and learned from others. In reality, so-called "original" artworks often incorporate elements borrowed, unknowingly appropriated, or even stolen from various sources, contributing to a collective visual culture.
