Perception of racism and xenophobia among children in foster care

Abstract:

Cílem této bakalářské práce je na základě výzkumného šetření zjistit, zda mají nebo nemají děti z dětských domovů vzhledem k jejich životu v multikulturním prostředí předsudky vůči lidem s jinou barvou pleti. V teoretické části se práce zaměřuje na obecnou charakteristikou dětského domova, vývojem dětí umístěných v dětských domovech, obecnou vývojovou psychologií a také vymezením základních pojmů týkajících se dané problematiky. V praktické části této bakalářské práce bylo výzkumné šetření realizováno pomocí dotazníku, ve kterém dotazované dítě ke každé otázce označilo konkrétní nabídnutou fotografii označující jedince různých národností, menšin a etnik a následně odůvodnilo tuto volbu. Výsledkem mělo být zjištění, zda děti provedou tuto volbu na základě odlišnosti zobrazených jedinců a jak zobrazené jedince vnímají. Skupinu respondentů tvořilo 50 dětí ve věku 10 15 let z dětských domovů.

Abstract:

The main aim of this assigment is based on research to determine whether children form orphanages have or not, due to heir life in multicultural enviroment, predjudice against people with different skin colour. The theoretical part of the assigment focuses on the general characteristics of the orphanage and development of children placed in orphanages, general developmental psychology, as well as the definition of basic concepts relating to the issue. In the practical part of this bachelor work a research study was carried out by using questionnaires, in which the interviewed child, for every single question, characterized a specific offered photo denoting individuals of different nationalities, minorities and ethnic groups, and then justify this choice. The result of the study should be to determine whether children make this selection based on differences of appeared individuals and how they perceive the shown individuals. The group of respondents consisted of 50 children from orphanages.
