Metacognition and critical thinking of university students

Abstract:

Tato bakalářská práce se zabývá vztahem metakognice a kritického myšlení. V teoretické části byly vymezeny základní koncepty a pojmy, na které následně navazovala výzkumná část práce. Popsána byla metakognice, její vymezení, rozdělení, historie a novější pojetí. Následně bylo popsáno i kritické myšlení a to, jak jsou metakognice a kritické myšlení důležité při učení. Pak zde byly prezentovány empirické studie ze zahraničí, které se zabývaly podobnou tématikou a částečně z nich vycházela výzkumná část. Cílem výzkumu této bakalářské práce bylo zjistit rozdíly v úrovni metakognice a kritického myšlení u různých skupin studentů na vysokých školách. Jako výzkumný nástroj byly použity tři dotazníky, které se zabývají metakognicí a kritickým myšlením (AILI, Goals inventory, MCQ-30), jimiž získaná data jsou podrobena analýze a výsledky jsou prezentovány ve výzkumné části práce.

Abstract:

This bachelor thesis deals with the relationship between metacognition and critical thinking. In the theoretical part, the basic concepts and notions were defined, which were then followed by the research part of the thesis. Metacognition, its definition, distribution, history and more recent concepts were described. Subsequently, critical thinking and how metacognition and critical thinking are important in learning were also described. Then, empirical studies from abroad that dealt with similar topics were presented and partly based on the research part. The aim of the research in this bachelor thesis was to find out the differences in the level of metacognition and critical thinking in different groups of students in higher education. Three questionnaires that deal with metacognition and critical thinking (AILI, Goals inventory, MCQ-30) were used as a research tool, the results of which are subjected to data analysis in the research part of the thesis.
