Quality of life in women with breast cancer focusing on psychological experiences

Abstract:

Bakalářská práce se soustředí na hodnocení kvality života žen, které trpí rakovinou prsu, se zaměřením na jejich psychické prožívání. V první teoretické části je popsána stručná anatomie prsu spolu s hlavními charakteristikami onemocnění, metodami diagnostiky a léčby karcinomu prsu. Druhá část teorie se stručně zabývá definicí kvality života a riziky nádorového onemocnění, která mohou ovlivnit psychiku žen a tím i jejich celkovou kvalitu života. Praktická část se zaměřuje na to, jak ženy postižené karcinomem prsu hodnotí svou kvalitu života v rámci psychického prožívání. Průzkum byl realizován pomocí standardizovaného dotazníku WHOQOL-BREW, který byl rozšířen o 5 vlastních otázek. V závěru je provedeno vyhodnocení výsledků dotazníkového šetření, které ukazují na kvalitu života žen s rakovinou prsu.

Abstract:

This bachelor thesis focuses on the evaluation of the quality of life of women suffering from breast cancer in terms of their mental experience. The theoretical part is divided into two sections. The first section describes the anatomy of a breast as well as the main characteristics of the disease. Then the methods of diagnosis and the medical treatment of carcinoma. The second section of the theoretical part defines quality of life. Moreover, it is devoted to the risks of oncological disease which can affect the mental wellbeing of women and thus their overall quality of life. The empirical part is based on how women suffering from breast cancer evaluate their quality of life with regard to their mental experience. The research was conducted through a standardized questionnaire WHOQOL-BREW, which was extended by 5 questions of the author's choice. Finally, there is an evaluation of the results of the questionnaire which illustrates / describes the quality of life in women with breast cancer.
