Use of the game to support motor functions in children with Down syndrome

Abstract:

Předložená bakalářská práce se zabývá motorikou a psychomotorickými aktivitami, které jsou aplikovány u dětí s Downovým syndromem. Cílem této práce je zjistit, zda psychomotorické aktivity pozitivně ovlivní motorické funkce jedinců s Downovým syndromem. Záměrem teoretické části je shromáždit informace o Downově syndromu, jeho vzniku a příčině, historii či klinických projevech. Dále se teoretická část věnuje jemné a hrubé motorice, jejímu vývoji a projevům motoriky u jedinců s Downovým syndromem. Teoretická část se také zaobírá hrou, hrou u dětí, terapií hrou, aspekty hry, hračkou či Piagetovým pojetím hry. Poslední kapitola se věnuje psychomotorice, jejímu vysvětlení a psychomotorické hře. Praktickou část bakalářské práce tvoří kazuistické šetření dvojčat s Downovým syndromem, která jsou testována v rámci první a poslední terapie na motorické funkce prostřednictvím prvků z testu motoriky pro děti MABC-2. Jednotlivé terapie se skládají především z psychomotorických her, které podporují jemnou i hrubou motoriku. Při závěrečném testování, které následovalo po deseti terapiích, došlo u jednoho z dvojčat k výraznému zlepšení v oblasti hrubé motoriky, zatímco u druhého dvojčete k viditelnému rozvoji jemné motoriky.

Abstract:

The submitted bachelor´s thesis deals with motor skills and psychomotor activities which are applied during therapy of children with Down´s syndrome. The goal of this thesis is to establish wheter psychomotor activities have a positive effect on motor skills of individuals with Down´s syndrome. The purpose of the theoretical part is to collect information concerning Down´s syndrome, its etiology, history and clinical manifestations. Furthermore, the theoretical part also deals with the development and manifestations of fine and gross motor skills of individuals with Down´s syndrome.The theroetical part deals with games, children games, games as therapeutical tool, game aspects, toys and Piaget's conception of game. The last chapter focuses on the definition of psychomotoricity and psychomotor activities. The practical part of the bachelor's thesis deals with the case study of twins with Down Syndrom whose motor skills were tested during the first and last therapy session through elements from motor skills test for children MABC-2. Individual therapies are mostly made up of psychomotor activities that encourage fine and gross motor functions. During the final testing, that occured after ten therapy sessions, one of the twins displayed major improvements in gross motor function, where as the second displayed a noticible improvements in fine motor function.
