Crisis as a Management Phenomenon: The Evolution of Organizational Crisis

Abstract:

Disertační práce se zabývá výzkumem fenoménu krize v kontextu organizací. Výzkumným cílem práce je navržení modelu evoluce organizační krize a jeho verifikace v empirickém výzkumu. Literární rešerše poskytují syntézy reflektující současné poznání v oblastí organizační krize, identifikují její významné aspekty a poskytují znalosti pro tvorbu konceptuálního modelu. Konceptuální modely předkládají objektový model evoluce organizační krize v podobě její životní cyklus a identifikují faktory ovlivňující jeho vývoj včetně bodu zlomu organizační krize. Tyto modely jsou následně ověřovány empirickým výzkumem, kde data jsou získána pomocí on-line anonymního dotazování. Výsledky analýzy dat slouží k doplnění konceptuálních modelů o empirické poznatky, které spolu s modelem přináší abstraktní pojetí reálného světa v kontextu poznání logiky studovaného fenoménu organizační krize. Výsledky výzkumu pojednávají o teoretických a praktických přínosech, které jsou významné zejména pro budoucí výzkum. Z pohledu teoretického přínosu se jedná o navržení konceptu evoluce organizační krize a rozšířením oblasti teorie organizační krize nebo krizového řízení. Z praktického pohledu se jedná o významný poklad pro behaviorální pojetí evoluce organizační krize v kontextu jejího řízení.

Abstract:

The dissertation thesis deals with researching the phenomenon of crisis within the context of organizations. The research objective is to propose a model for the evolution of organizational crises and verify it through empirical study. Literary reviews provide syntheses reflecting current knowledge in the field of organizational crises, identifying significant aspects, and offering insights for creating a conceptual model. Conceptual models present an object-oriented model of the evolution of organizational crises in the form of their life cycle and identify factors influencing their development, including the tipping point of an organizational crisis. These models are subsequently validated through empirical research, where data are collected through online anonymous surveys. The results of data analysis supplement conceptual models with empirical findings, which, together with the model, contribute an abstract understanding of the real world in the context of understanding the logic of the studied phenomenon of organizational crises. The research results discuss both theoretical and practical contributions, particularly significant for future research. From a theoretical standpoint, it involves proposing a conceptual framework for the evolution of organizational crises, expanding the field of organizational crisis theory or crisis management. From a practical perspective, it represents a valuable asset for understanding the behavioral aspect of the evolution of organizational crises in the context of their management.
