The Jiří Mahen's Library in Brno: The Strategy of the Building of the Fund for Pre-school and Early School Children

Abstract:

Cílem této bakalářské diplomové práce bylo vytvořit hodnocení projektu Knihovny Jiřího Mahena v Brně „Poprvé do školy – poprvé do knihovny“ a vytvořit doporučení pro budování fondu dětské literatury pro předškolní a mladší školní věk dětí v Knihovně Jiřího Mahena v Brně. Práce je rozčleněna do osmi kapitol. Nejprve je věnována pozornost psychologii dětí v předškolním a mladším školním věku a odůvodnění nezbytnosti rozvoje čtenářských dovedností již v tak raném věku. Dále je zde představena Knihovna Jiřího Mahena v Brně, její služby a zejména její služby pro dětské čtenáře. Velká pozornost je zde věnována projektu Knihovny Jiřího Mahena v Brně na podporu dětského čtenářství „Poprvé do školy – poprvé do knihovny“, který je v této práci zhodnocen z pohledu pedagožky, z hlediska získávání nových dětských čtenářů do knihovny i celkového hodnocení prospěšnosti tohoto projektu. Další kapitola poté mapuje nabídky dětské literatury na českém trhu prostřednictvím nakladatelství dětské literatury. A také kvalitu zejména podle literárních soutěží, ve kterých jsou oceňovány knihy pro děti. Poslední kapitola se zabývá strategií budování fondu dětské literatury pro předškolní a mladší školní věk dětí v Knihovně Jiřího Mahena v Brně. Sleduje současný stav fondu dětské literatury a současnou strategii budování fondu dětské literatury v Knihovně Jiřího Mahena v Brně a snaží se stanovit doporučení pro efektivnější budování tohoto fondu dětské literatury. Součástí práce jsou přílohy.

Abstract:

The intention of this bachelor diploma work was to create the evaluation of the project of the Jiří Mahen´s Library in Brno: "For the first time to the school - for the first time to the library" and to make recommendation about the building of the fund of the children's literature for the pre-school and early school children at the Jiří Mahen´s Library in Brno. The work is divided into eight chapters. First, we concentrate on the psychology of the pre-school and early school children and sustain the necessity of the reading abilities already in such an early age. Next, we present the Jiří Mahen´s Library in Brno, its services and especially the services for young readers. Here we thoroughly concentrate on the project of the Jiří Mahen´s Library in Brno concerning young readers: "For the first time to the school - for the first time to the library", which we evaluate from the point of view of a pedagogue, from the perspective of acquiring of new young readers for the library and from the perspective of the evaluation of the utility of such project. Next chapter then maps the supply of the children's literature on the Czech market through the publishing houses of the children's literature. And also the quality especially through literature competitions, where are awarded books for the children. The last chapter is concerned with the strategy of the building of the fund of the children's literature at the Jiří Mahen´s Library in Brno. It studies the present state of the fund of the children's literature and the present strategy of the building of the fund of the children's literature at the Jiří Mahen´s Library in Brno and tries to make recommendation about more effective building of the fund of the children's literature. The work also contains supplements.
