Attitudes of the Society towards Harm Reduction for Drug Addicts

Abstract:

Bakalářská práce se zabývala postojem společnosti k drogové problematice, zejména k metodě Harm Reduction. Zaměřila se na postoje studentů středních škol a na postoje seniorů. Práci tvořily dvě stěžejní části, a sice teoretická a praktická. Teoretická část se soustředila na drogovou závislost spolu s její prevencí a na metodu Harm Reduction, včetně její kritiky. Praktická část zjišťovala pomocí standardizovaného dotazníku distribuovaného mezi studenty a seniory jejich postoje k uživatelům návykových látek a k metodě Harm Reduction. Výsledky ukazovaly podobnost názorů u studentů a u seniorů, přičemž přístup studentů k Harm Reduction byl pozitivnější nežli přístup seniorů. Jako největší přínos práce vzhledem k řešené problematice bylo možné vnímat potvrzení o neinformovanosti o Harm Reduction u daného vzorku respondentů, z čehož následně vyplynula i navrhovaná opatření, jako je zejména osvětová činnost na dané téma.

Abstract:

The Bachelor thesis dealt with attitudes of society towards drugs, particularly towards the method called Harm Reduction. It focused on the attitudes of high school students and seniors. The thesis is composed of two main parts, i.e. theoretical and practical. The theoretical part was focused on drug addiction and its prevention and on the method Harm Reduction, including its critics. The practical part examined, with the help of a standardized questionnaire distributed among students and seniors, their attitudes towards drug users and towards the method called Harm Reduction. The results showed similarity of views among students and seniors, while students´ stances to Harm Reduction were more positive than the of seniors. As the largest contribution of the work in relation to the topic was possible to perceive the acknowledgment of ignorance about Harm Reduction in our sample of respondents, which subsequently resulted in proposed measures, in particular the educational activity on the subject.
