Phenomenon of embodiment in the context of dance movement therapy

Abstract:

Diplomová práce se zaměřuje na fenomén embodimentu v kontextu tanečně pohybové terapie. Jejím cílem je prozkoumat subjektivní vnímání a prožívání tohoto fenoménu u psychoterapeutů s výcvikem v tanečně pohybové terapii. Fenomén je zde zkoumán prostřednictvím interpretativní fenomenologické analýzy provedené na rozhovorech se třemi respondenty. Práce přináší popis a rozbor hlavních témat vyskytujících se ve zkušenosti terapeutů s embodimentem jak v osobním životě, tak v terapeutickém procesu. Na základě těchto témat proběhlo srovnání zkušenosti jednotlivých respondentů, nalezení společných či rozdílných témat a určení obecnějších tvrzení platných pro tento fenomén. Výzkum ukázal, že výraz embodiment může být použit pro označení stavu, dovednosti nebo procesu v závislosti na kontextu použití. Ve všech případech jde o fenomén spojený s bytím v přítomnosti, kontaktem se sebou, napojením na své tělo a vnímáním informací pocházejících z těla, které jsou dále využívány v psychoterapeutickém procesu.

Abstract:

The diploma thesis is focused on the phenomenon of embodiment in the context of dance movement therapy. It aims to explore the subjective understanding and experiencing of this phenomenon by psychotherapists trained in dance movement therapy. The phenomenon is explored through Interpretative Phenomenological Analysis performed on interviews with three respondents. This work brings description and analysis of main topics occurring in the experience of therapists both in their personal life and in the therapeutic process. Comparison of the experience of individual respondents was performed, common and divergent topics were found and general statements about the phenomenon were made on the basis of the topics identified during the analysis. The research shows that the term embodiment may be used to describe a state of an individual, an ability or a process. In all cases the phenomenon is connected with being present and in contact with oneself, with connection to one's body and being aware to the information coming from one's body which are further used in the psychotherapeutic process.
