Amputation in ancient man

Abstract:

V mé bakalářské práci se věnuji historickému přehledu amputací v dějinách lidstva. Popisuji významné antropologické nálezy, stupeň hojení a v některých případech i nejpravděpodobnější interpretaci zákroku. V jednotlivých obdobích se soustřeďuji na úroveň vývoje operací, formu provedení a významné osobnosti, které se amputacemi zabývali primárně i okrajově. Prostřední část jsem věnovala fázím změn na kostech v průběhu dnů a týdnů, až do konečné podoby pahýlu. Ve třetí části jsem se zaměřuji na problematiku amputací v současnosti. Zabývám se v ní nejčastějšími příčinami, prováděnými typy, samotnou technikou, komplikacemi a následnou rehabilitací.

Abstract:

In the thesis I am consecrated to the historical outline of amputations in the context of the human history. I describe the significant anthropological finds, the level of healing and in some cases the most probable interpretation of surgical intervention. In each period I am focused on the level of development of the operations, the type of used method and the most important personalities who were interested in imputations on primary or marginal level. The second part concerns the stages of skeletal modification during the time of days and weeks till the stump. The third part refers to the question of the contemporary amputations. I introduce the most frequent causes of amputation, the types, certain techniques, possible complications and the following rehabilitation.
