The Religiosity and Economic Thinking in 20th Century

Abstract:

Předložená práce se zabývá tématem vztahu ekonomického myšlení a náboženství ve 20. století. Klade si za cíl tento vztah prozkoumat, vyhodnotit a zařadit do filozofického kontextu. K tomuto cíli práce směřuje dvěma směry, za prvé představením hlavního teoretického průniku ekonomického myšlení do náboženství – aplikace teorie racionální volby v sociologii náboženství, to především po vzoru Chicagské ekonomické školy. Druhý směr je prozkoumání úvah náboženských autorů a filozofů, jejichž práce se dotýká ekonomických témat a jejichž názory na vztah ekonomie a víry většinu z nich proslavily. V práci je tak představeno a kriticky komentováno myšlení neokonzervativce Michaela Novaka, liberálního katolíka Hanse Künga a dalších. Snahou práce je představovat tyto autory v širším, filozofickém kontextu a stejně tak přijít se závěry vlastními.

Abstract:

The present thesis deals with the relationship of economic thought and religion in the 20th century. It aims to explore this relationship, assess and classify the philosophical context. The objectives of this work are two ways, firstly by introducing the main theoretical intersection of economic thinking in to the religion ‒ the application of rational choice theory in the sociology of religion, particularly along the lines of the Chicago school of economics. The second direction is to explore the considerations of religious authors and philosophers whose work relates to economic issues and thus became famous. In this work are presented and critically commented on the views of Michael Novak, Hans Küng and others. The aim is to present the work of these authors in the broader philosophical context, and so come with own conclusions.
