Corporate Social Reporting within Companies in the Czech Republic

Abstract:

Předmětem této diplomové práce je reportování o společenské odpovědnosti a trvale udržitelném rozvoji u podniků v České republice. V první části práce je vymezen koncept společenské odpovědnosti firem, jsou zde uvedeny jeho hlavní principy, oblasti, přínosy a také způsoby, jak jej implementovat do firemní strategie. Největší pozornost je věnována teoretické rovině CSR reportování, tento pojem je nejprve vymezen a následně jsou popsány reportingové standardy, současné stavy CSR reportování ve světě a v České republice, budoucí i současné trendy výkaznictví, důvody k CSR reportování a faktory ovlivňující CSR reportování. Současný stav reportování ve světě je vypracován na základě průzkumu KPMG, které zkoumají nefinanční reporting u 250 největších firem světa a ve 4 100 největších firem celé řady zemí. Praktická rovina problematiky CSR reportování je rozvinuta ve druhé části práce, ve které je nejprve analyzován současný stav nefinanční reportingu v zemích bývalého Československa a následně jsou vypracovány hodnocení a komparace vydaných zpráv od nejvýznamnějších podniků působících v těchto zemích. Součástí hodnocení a komparace zpráv je také doporučení pro tvůrce zpráv. Nejvýznamnější částí diplomové práce je aplikace mezinárodní metodiky GRI G4 ve společnosti Severočeské doly. Pro účely aplikování metodiky GRI G4 byli zmapováni stakeholdeři, dále pak byly popsána rizika, cíle, příležitosti a v neposlední řadě také významná témata.

Abstract:

The subject of this diploma thesis is corporate social responsibility reporting and sustainable reporting by Czech companies. The First part of the thesis defines the social responsibility concept and introduces its main principles, areas, benefits and also methods used to implement CSR into corporate strategy. Great importance is devoted to the theoretical level of the CSR reporting, this term is defined first and then the reporting standards are described and the current status of CSR reporting in the world and in the Czech Republic, future and current trends of reporting, reasons for reporting and factors affecting reporting. The current status of CSR reporting in the world is developed on the basis of KPMG surveys, which examine non-financial reporting at the 250 largest companies in the world and in 4100 of the biggest companies in a number of countries. The Practical level of CSR reporting is developed in the second part of the thesis, where the current status of non-financial reporting in the former states of Czechoslovakia is first analysed and then evaluations and comparisons of published reports from major companies operating in these countries are formulated. An evaluation and comparison of examined reports includes recommendations for the report's creators. The most significant part of the diploma thesis is the application of a GRI G4 framework into the company Severočeské doly. For the purposes of applying the GRI G4 stakeholders of this company were designated and also targets, opportunities and material issues were described.
