Tendinopathy and articular dysfunctions by overuse of the drummer's wrist: comparison between standard therapy and therapy with addiction of the Xenia band.

Abstract:

The scientific literature has shown that there are numerous musculoskeletal diseases which affect musicians and limit their performances or force them to interrupt their professional/amateur career. Specifically, the Drummers are the most exposed to over-use of the joints as they can detect problems in different parts of the body, mostly along the spine and the upper and lower limbs. The wrist joint is more subject to be affected by inflammatory diseases due to the continuous vibrations that generate sticks when beating on the drum. This, added to the continuous movements of abduction and adduction of the wrist combined with the finger?s flexion, solicit the sliding of the tendons thus causing inflammation. Abstract:

La letteratura scientifica ha dimostrato che esistono numerose patologie muscoloscheletriche che affliggono i musicisti tali da limitare la loro performance o costringerli all?interruzione dell?attivit? professionale o amatoriale. I batteristi, in particolar modo, sono i soggetti pi? esposti ad over-use delle articolazioni, in quanto possono riscontrare problematiche in diverse parti del corpo, soprattutto lungo tutta la colonna vertebrale e a livello degli arti superiori e inferiori. In particolare, ? l?articolazione del polso ad avere un maggior rischio di imbattersi in patologie infiammatorie, a causa delle continue vibrazioni che producono le bacchette quando battono sulle pelli e ai continui movimenti di abduzione e adduzione del polso, unito alla presa in flessione della mano, che sollecita lo scorrimento dei tendini causandone l?infiammazione.
