The Universe is too Beautiful not to be Experienced by Someone

Abstract:

Výstupem praktické části je krátkometrážní autorský sci-fi animovaný film vytvořený technikou 3D grafiky. Příběh pojednává o prázdnotě, sterilitě, nezvratitelné smrti, nekonečné kráse vesmíru a důležitosti života v něm, prostřednictvím jeho antropomorfismu a schopnosti sebereflexe. Cílem autora je představit divákovi nicotnost, ale zároveň vzácnost naší planety, jedinečnost fauny a flóry na ní, a tímto zvýšit jeho pokoru a vědeckou a ekologickou gramotnost. První část teoretické práce se zabývá problematikou věrohodnosti současných vědeckých dokumentů, především popisuje nárůst popularity a kvality amatérského vzdělávacího obsahu na internetu a sociálních sítích, a porovnává jej s upadající kvalitou dokumentů v audiovizuálních médiích. Srovnání se bude týkat zejména seriózních a důvěryhodných kanálů na platformě YouTube versus veteránů dokumentární televize jako je History Channel propagující pseudovědu, ignoranci a konspirační teorie za účelem zisku. Druhá polovina teoretické části popisuje postup, jakým vznikl autorský film. Autor představí techniku, motivy a inspiraci svého díla.

Abstract:

The output of the practical part is a short sci-fi animated film created with 3D graphics. The story deals with emptiness, sterility, irreversible death, infinite beauty of the universe and the importance of life in it, with its anthropomorphism and ability to self-reflect. The aim of the author is to introduce the viewer to trifle, but at the same time the rarity of our planet, the uniqueness of the fauna and flora on it, and thus increase his humility and scientific and ecological literacy. The first part of the theoretical work deals with the credibility of current scientific documentaries, especially describes the increase in popularity and quality of the amateur educational content on the Internet and social networks, and compares it with the declining quality of documents in television. The comparison will focus on serious and trustworthy YouTube channels versus documentary TV veterans such as History Channel promoting pseudoscience, ignorance and conspiracy theories for profit. The second half of the theoretical part describes the process by which the author's film was created. The author will present the technique, motifs and inspiration of his work.
