The Effect of Ownership Structure on Corporate Financial Performance

Abstract:

V této práci byl na datovém vzorku čítajícím přes 100 000 obchodních společností se sídlem v České republice analyzován vliv vlastnické struktury na výkonnost podniků. Ve vztahu k výkonnosti podniku byly zkoumány oba aspekty vlastnické struktury, tedy jak souvislost koncentrace vlastnictví, tak také souvislost identity vlastníka (zda se jedná o fyzickou nebo právnickou osobu a zda je tato osoba tuzemského původu či je ze zahraničí). Ačkoliv se potvrdila statistická významnost vlivu jednotlivých proměnných, jejich reálný vliv na finanční ukazatele výkonnosti byl ve většině případů nízký.

Abstract:

In this work, the effect of ownership structure on corporate financial performance was analyzed on a data sample of over 100 000 trading companies based in the Czech Republic. In relation to the corporate performance, both aspects of ownership were examined; it means the ownership concentration and the identity of the owner (whether it is a natural or legal entity and if it is based abroad or in the Czech Republic). Although the statistical significance of the effects of variables was verified, their real impact on financial corporate performance was in most cases low.
