Image Segmentation with Classifier-based Weak Supervision

Abstract:

Segmentačné modely sú v súčasnosti veľmi presné ak sú trénované na veľkom množstve anotovaných dát. Problémom však je, že anotácia veľkých segmentačných datasetov je nákladná a časovo náročná úloha. Táto práca navrhuje novú metódu, ktorá umožňuje semantickú segmentáciu sady tried, pričom len pre niektoré triedy sú dostupné anotácie na úrovni pixelov. Tento prístup redukuje potrebu drahých anotácií a prispieva do oblasti sémantickej segmentácie predstavením jednoduchého, efektívneho a škálovateľného riešenia. Na rozdiel od iných metód, ktoré využívajú slabšie anotácie, táto metóda nevyužíva žiadne heuristické postupy.

Abstract:

Semantic segmentation models today are very accurate when trained on large annotated datasets, but collecting pixel-level mask annotations is very expensive and time-consuming. To overcome this challenge, this thesis proposes a novel partially supervised approach for semantic segmentation, designed to segment a set of classes when only a subset has pixel-level annotations. This thesis contributes to the field of semantic segmentation by introducing a straightforward, efficient, and scalable approach that reduces the need for expensive pixel-level annotations. Furthermore, our method is learned end-to-end and eliminates the need for heuristics and hand-crafted techniques commonly used in limited supervision approaches.
