Abstract:
The aim of this thesis is to explore themes of time and history in Virginia Woolf's novel The Years. In the narrative Woolf subverts some of the techniques of the traditional nineteenth century history writing by historians such as Thomas Carlyle, Thomas Macaulay or the biographer Leslie Stephen who was Woolf's father.
