Quality of life after hysteroctomia

Abstract:

Diplomová práce si klade za cíl prozkoumat, jak ženy po hysterektomii vnímají kvalitu svého života a svou ženskou identitu. Zaměřuje se na to, zda se kvalita života žen po tomto gynekologickém zákroku nějakým způsobem mění a pokud ano, tak v jakých oblastech. V teoretické části se práce zaměřuje na problematiku hysterektomie obecně, dále jsou pak jednotlivé aspekty tohoto zákroku uváděny do souvislosti s psychologickým významem, který může pro ženu mít. Pozornost je tak věnována významu dělohy a vaječníků, menstruace a menopausy, ale i sexuálnímu fungování. Následuje rozvedení konceptu kvality života. Výzkumná část je založena na kombinaci vhodně se doplňujících kvalitativních metod. Prvním krokem je kvalitativní obsahová analýza příspěvků diskuzního fóra na téma „Hysterektomie“. Ve druhé části je pak analyzováno pět rozhovorů se ženami po hysterektomii metodou zakotvené teorie. Bylo zjištěno, že kvalita života se mění a oblasti, kterých se změny týkají, jsou: zdraví, sexuální fungování, zaměstnání, vnímání dělohy, vnímání operace, negativní emoce a stres, vztahy, podpora a prožitek změny. Je naznačen také model vztahů, který se snaží uvést do souvislosti identifikované kategorie.

Abstract:

The aim of this thesis is to explore how women perceive their quality of life and female identity after hysterectomy. It is focused whether the quality of women´s life after this gynecological surgery somehow changed and if so in which areas. Theoretical part is focused on the issue of hysterectomy in general and then there are described individual aspects of this procedure presented in the context of psychological consequences for women. Attention is paid to the importance of the uterus and ovaries, menstruation and menopause, as well as sexual functioning. An introduction of the concept of quality of life comes next. The research is based on a mix of appropriate complementary qualitative methods. The first step is a qualitative content analysis of discussion forum about "Hysterectomy". In the second part the interviews with five women after hysterectomy are analyzed using grounded theory. It was found that the quality of life is changing and areas affected by this change are: health, sexual functioning, work, perception of the uterus, perception of the operation and negative emotions and stress, relationships, support and experience of this change. It also outlined a model of relations, which puts into context the identified categories.
