The aim of this thesis is to determine the level of language vitality of the Miami-Illinois language as well as to refer to a rapid decrease of languages in the world, to explain reasons for the preservation and recovery of endangered languages and the eventual steps to preserve them. Cílem této bakalářské práce je určit úroveň jazykové vitality miamského jazyka, dále pak poukázat na rapidní úbytek jazyků ve světě, vysvětlit příčiny vymírání jazyků, důvody pro zachování a obnovu ohrožených jazyků a případné kroky k jejich zachování.
