Why do children eat what they eat?

Abstract:

The Master´s thesis addresses the issue of building food preferences in children. In the theoretical part, the physiology factors controlling the food intake are described at first. Consequently, there is an explanation of how much is the eating behaviour in children genetically predisposed. There is also a discussion about early taste experiences forming the food preferences, as well as the family and environmental factors influencing children´s eating behaviour. The practical part focuses on clarification of the influence of certain family factors on the rate of vegetable and fruit consumption in children.

Abstract:

Diplomová práca je venovaná problematike formovania výživových preferencií u detí. V teoretickej časti sú najskôr popísané fyziologické faktory riadiace príjem stravy. Následne je objasnené, do akej miery je jedálne správanie dieťaťa geneticky predisponované. V práci sú tiež diskutované včasné chuťové skúsenosti formujúce výživové preferencie, ako aj vplyv rodinných faktorov a faktorov prostredia na stravovanie dieťaťa. Praktická časť je zameraná na ozrejmenie vplyvu určitých rodinných faktorov na mieru konzumácie zeleniny a ovocia u detí.
