Once more, differently and better: Conscious use of relational maintenance strategies in second marriages

Abstract:

Práce prozkoumává souvislost mezi rozvodovou zkušeností žen a užívanými strategiemi vztahové údržby ve druhých manželstvích. V teoretické části je představen koncept vztahové údržby, výzkumy zabývající se rozvodovou zkušeností a poznatky týkající se druhých manželstvích a vztahové údržby v těchto manželstvích. Výzkum se prostřednictvím šesti polostrukturovaných rozhovorů analyzovaných interpretativní fenomenologickou analýzou pokusil rozkrýt příčiny změn ve strategiích vztahové údržby ve druhých manželstvích. Témata vzešlá z analýzy se dotýkala vztahových charakteristik a vztahové údržby prvního a druhého manželství a vnímání své vlastní pozice v obou manželstvích, vnímání a významu rozvodové zkušenosti a výběru druhého manžela. Analýza ukázala, že rozvodová zkušenost žen a její souvislost se vztahovou údržbou druhého vztahu je komplexní fenomén, jehož dimenze jsou velmi propojené. Významné oblasti objevující se v rámci témat se týkaly např. ztráty důvěry, objevení a posílení sebe; nižší investice, sebeprosazení, vyšší otevřenosti a důrazu na prožitek ve vztahové údržbě druhého vztahu.

Abstract:

The study is focused on the relationship between women's experience of divorce and a relationship maintenance strategies used in second marriages. The theoretical part introduces the concept of relational maintenance, studies dealing with the divorce experience and knowledge regarding the second marriages and relationship maintenance in these marriages. The topic of study is viewed from qualitative point of view. Six women were interviewed about their experience of divorce and following changes in relationship maintenance strategies. The data were analyzed by the interpretative phenomenological analysis. The themes emerged from analysis included relational maintenance and relational characteristics of the first and second marriages and the perception of its own position in both marriages; perception and the importance of divorce experience and choosing the second spouse. The analysis showed that the divorce experience for women and its association with relational maintenance second relationship is a complex phenomenon whose dimensions are very interrelated. Notably dimension appearing in themes refered to loss of trust in relationships, self discovery and self acceptance ,build self esteem; lower investment, assertiveness, greater openness and emphasis on experience in relationship maintenance strategies used in second marriages.
