Intensive training and its influence on handgrip strength

Abstract:

Ruka je důležitou pohyblivou a opěrnou součástí lidského těla s řadou funkcí. Pomocí ruky člověk komunikuje, manipuluje s předměty. Při manipulaci je velmi důležitý úchop, kdy dochází ke kontrakci určitých skupin svalů. Cílem této práce bylo vytvořit stručný přehled poznatků o stavbě a funkci lidské ruky. Na vybraném vzorku jedinců prakticky srovnat svalovou sílu stisku ruky před a po střednědobé intenzivní zátěži u zkoumané skupiny celkově, i mezi pohlavími a tyto výsledky poté srovnat s kontrolní skupinou. Praktická část obsahuje vzorek 40 jedinců ve věku 14 až 60 let, u nichž se sleduje síla stisku dominantní ruky. Síla byla stanovená pomocí ručního dynamometru Chatillon DFF II. Probandi byli vždy měřeni v standardní testovací poloze. Z výsledků vyplývá, že u zkoumané skupiny, tedy skupiny, která byla vystavena fyzické zátěži, jsou přírůstky síly stisku ruky znatelné a statisticky významné. U kontrolní skupiny, která měla nezměněný režim, téměř k žádným rozdílům mezi prvním a druhým měřením nedošlo. K obdobným závěrům došlo i u testování síly stisku u skupin žen. Při srovnávání výsledků prvního a druhého měření u mužů nebyl rozdíl statisticky významný. U kontrolní skupiny se s tímto výsledkem počítalo. U zkoumané skupiny však může být tento výsledek důsledkem malého vzorku, jelikož u všech mužů jednotlivě, výjimkou jednoho případu, došlo k nárůstu síly. Při srovnání sil stisku ruky mezi pohlavími vykazovali muži vždy větší průměrné hodnoty než ženy. Výsledky hodnocení vlivu intenzivní zátěže na sílu stisku ruky nebyly srovnány téměř s žádnými dalšími publikacemi. Důvodem je nedostatek prací zabývajících se tímto tématem.

Abstract:

The hand is an important part of the muscular and skeletal systems of the human body with many functions. Humans communicate and manipulate with objects using hands. Hand grip when contractions of specific muscle group occurs is very important for manipulation. The aim of this thesis is to create a brief overview about the human hand structure and function. The aim of the thesis is to compare grip strength before and after medium-term intensive workload of a selected sample of individuals as well. The differences between sexes are to be contrasted in the examined group, too, and then to be compared with the control group. Practical part of the thesis contains the sample of forty individuals aged from 14 to 60 whose dominant hand grip strength is tested. The Chatillon DFF II digital force gauge is used for the testing and the probands have been measured in the standard test position. The results show statistically significant increase of grip strength in the examined group which has been exposed to physical load. There were almost no differences between the first and the second test in the control group which regime has been unchanged. The testing of grip strength in the group of women shows similar conclusions. Differences between the first and the second test in the group of men are not statistically significant. This result had been expected in the control group. However, the result in the examined group might imply the small number of the individuals in the sample because there has been an increase of grip strength in every man but one in the examined group. The men always show the higher average values of grip strength than the women when compared. Evaluation of the intensive workload effects on grip strength has been compared with almost no other works. The reason is the lack of works addressing the topic.
