Tea consumption in the Czech Republic

Abstract:

Diplomová práce se zabývá konzumací čaje v České republice. Cílem této práce je identifikace vlastností spotřeby čaje v České republice, jeho nabídky a poptávky. Pro účely diplomové práce jsou použity tři typy průzkumů. První je zaměřen na nabídku čajů v obchodních řetězcích a e-shopech. Druhý je zaměřen na postoje klíčových stakeholderů v oboru. Třetím průzkumem jsou zjišťovány postoje a chování běžných spotřebitelů. Pro tyto účely je zvolen kvantitativní i kvalitativní výzkum. Konkrétně analýza webových stránek, metody dotazování formou dotazníku a řízených rozhovorů. Po zpracování výsledků se ukázalo, že sypaný čaj upřednostňují spíše muži, ženy naopak porcovaný. Sypané čaje jsou preferovány spíše u zelených a polozelených čajů, porcované u čajů ovocných. Obchodní řetězce nabízejí celkem 9 kategorií a nejvíce zastoupené jsou ovocné čaje. Nejširší je nabídka porcovaných čajů a nabízeno je více než 56 značek. E-shopy nabízejí naopak převážně čaje sypané, a to ve více než 20 kategoriích. Nejvíce zastoupenou kategorií čajů jsou zde čaje bylinné a funkční. V návrhové části práce jsou zmíněna doporučení vyplývající především z analytické části diplomové práce. Jsou zde doporučení pro gastronomická zařízení, e-shopy a další prodejce čaje. V rámci těchto doporučení je také navržený alkoholický a nealkoholický koktejl na bázi čaje.

Abstract:

This master thesis looks at the consumption of tea in the Czech Republic. This thesis aims to identify the characteristics of tea consumption in the Czech Republic, its supply, and demand. Three different types of data collection methods are used in this thesis. The first is focused on the offer of teas in retail chains and e-shops. The second focuses on the attitudes of key stakeholders in the field. The third examines the attitudes and behavior of ordinary consumers. Quantitative and qualitative research is chosen for these purposes. Specifically, the analysis of websites, and data collection form of a questionnaire and guided interviews. Analysis of obtained data shows that loose-leaf tea is preferred by men, while women prefer tea in teabags. Loose-leaf tea form is more preferred with green and semi-green types of tea, teabag form is preferred with fruit types of tea. Retail chains offer a total of nine types of tea mostly represented by a fruit tea type. The widest range of teas is offered in a form of teabags with more than 56 different brands. On the other hand, e-shops offer mostly loose-leaf teas, more than 20 different types. The most represented types of teas are herbal and functional teas. The last part of the thesis mentions recommendations arising mainly from the analytical part. There are recommendations for gastronomic establishments, e-shops, and other tea sellers. An alcoholic and non-alcoholic tea-based cocktail is also proposed among these recommendations.
