Úvod: Kromě nadbytku cytokinů a oxidu dusného je právě zvýšená produkcekyslíkových radikálů považována za příčinu poškození orgánů v průběhu sepse nebo endotoxemie. Proto byl otestován předpoklad, že geneticky zvýšena exprese Cu/Zn-superoxid dismutázy (SOD-1) zabrání sepsí vyvolanému zhoršení srdeční funkce a narušení metabolismu uhlovodíků během resuscitovaného septického šoku u myší.
