Gustav Klimt's painted theater curtains Triumph of Love and Apotheosis of Poetic Art

Abstract:

Bakalářská práce se zabývá ranými díly malíře Gustava Klimta a skupiny Künstler-Compagnie. Mezi prvními zakázkami, jež rakouští výtvarníci získali, bylo vytvoření alegorických výjevů s mytologickými náměty na jevištních oponách a nástropní výzdobě v Liberci, v divadle v Karlových Varech a v Chorvatském národním divadle v Rijece. Stěžejní částí bakalářské práce je obsahová a stylistická interpretace alegorických děl na malovaných oponách. Práce je rozdělena na několik kapitol, jež se postupně věnují historii divadelních budov a kontextu doby, ve které raná díla, zejména unikátní jevištní opony, vznikla. Práce se zabývá výtvarným přístupem a způsobem zpracování malovaných opon Klimtovou uměleckou skupinou Künstler-Compagnie v porovnání s pojetím českého tvůrce divadelní opony vytvořené pro Národní divadlo v Praze z téže doby. Cílem práce je představit počáteční uměleckou tvorbu Klimtovy umělecké skupiny a jejich přínos pro tehdejší kulturní společnost v rámci národnostně politických vlivů a konkurenčního prostředí české výtvarné scény.

Abstract:

The bachelor's thesis deals with the early works of the painter Gustav Klimt and the Künstler-Compagnie group. Among the first commissions that Austrian artists received was the creation of allegorical scenes with mythological themes on stage curtains and ceiling decoration in Liberec, in the theater in Karlovy Vary, in the Croatian National Theater in Rijeka. The content and stylistic interpretation of allegorical works on painted curtains is central to the bachelor thesis. The work is divided into several chapters, which are gradually devoted to the history of theater buildings and the context of the time in which the early works, especially the unique stage curtains, were created. The thesis deals with the artistic approach and method of processing of Klimt's artistic group Künstler-Compagnie in comparison with the Czech creators of theater curtains created for the National Theater in Prague from the same period. The aim is to acquaint the public with the initial artistic creation of Klimt's artistic group and their contribution to the cultural society of the time within the framework of national political influences and the competitive environment of the Czech art scene.
