Pyrimidine Derivatives and Their Biological Applications

Abstract:

Byla provedena literární rešerše na téma push-pull derivátů nesoucích pyrimidin jako akceptorní jednotku a jejich aplikací v biologických vědách. Vedle využití v organoelektronice, nelineární optice atd. nachází deriváty pyrimidinu své uplatnění i např. v oblasti biozobrazování či pH sond. Tato práce přehledně shrnuje jejich základní vlastnosti, obecné syntézy a příklady aplikací. Cílem experimentální části byla syntéza tří push-pull molekul odvozených od pyrimidinu s N,N-difenylamino donorní jednotkou, styrylovým -konjugovaným můstkem a studium vlivu polohy amino skupiny vůči centrální heterocyklické jednotce na spektrální vlastnosti cílových derivátů. Všechny molekuly byly charakterizovány dostupnými analytickými technikami (NMR a MS spektroskopie), byly měřeny jejich absorpční a emisní vlastnosti a rovněž termické chování. Z výsledků měření byly vyvozeny základní vztahy mezi strukturou a jejich vlastnostmi.

Abstract:

A literature search focusing on push-pull derivatives bearing pyrimidine accepting unit and their application in biological sciences has been performed. In addition to the use of pyrimidine derivatives in organic electronics, nonlinear optics, etc., pyrimidine derivatives were also utilized in bioimaging and pH-probes. This work clearly summarizes their fundamental properties, general syntheses, and examples of their applications. In the experimental part were synthesized three pyrimidine-based push-pull molecules with N,N-diphenylamino donor unit and styryl -conjugated linker. Influence of the amino group positioning along the pyrimidine central core on the spectral properties of target chromophores has also been addressed. All molecules were characterized by available analytical techniques (NMR and MS spectroscopy) and their absorption/emission as well as thermal properties were recorded. Fundamental structure-property relationships were elucidated from the measured data.
