Genetic characteristics of indigenous Canary Islands population and its geographic origin

Abstract:

Tato bakalářská práce se věnuje popisu původního obyvatelstva Kanárských ostrovů z genetické perspektivy založené na určení haploskupin a haplotypů daného geografického původu. Jedná se o haploskupiny a haplotypy mitochondriální DNA, chromozomu Y a autozomálních genetických markerů, které byly použity pro detekci domorodých kanárských genů. Práce se také zaměřuje na dopad španělské kolonizace na domorodý genofond a na přetrvání původních genů u současné kanárské populace.

Abstract:

This thesis deals with the characteristics of the indigenous Canary Islands population from a genetic perspective based on the determination of haplogroups and haplotypes of a given geographic origin. These are haplogroups and haplotypes of mitochondrial DNA, Y chromosome and autosomal genetic markers, which were used for the detection of autochthonous Canary genes. The thesis also focuses on the impact of Spanish colonization on the autochthonous gene pool and the persistence of indigenous genes in the current population of the Canary Islands.
