Design of a prototype of an electronic aid to support the teaching of computer science

Abstract:

Tato diplomová práce se zabývá návrhem prototypu elektronické pomůcky, která má sloužit jako pomůcka pro výuku oblasti Informatika u žáků ZŠ. Součástí práce je návod na jeho sestavení a sada úloh, které jsou zaměřeny na rozvoj algoritmického myšlení. Prototyp byl navržen pomocí platformy Micro:bit, což je malý programovatelný počítač, který obsahuje celou řadu komponent, jako jsou například LED diody, tlačítka, mikrofon, kompas, ale také i akcelometr. A právě programování reálného mikropočítače s poměrně velkým množstvím modulů a senzorů je skvělý způsob, pomocí kterého mohou žáci rozvíjet informatické, ale zejména algoritmické myšlení. Práce nejprve teoreticky pojednává o informatickém a algoritmickém myšlení, dále popisuje samotný mikropočítač Micro:bit, jeho historii a jednotlivé části, ze kterých je složen. Dále jsou popsány různé druhy prostředí a editorů, díky kterým je možno Micro:bit programovat. Teoretickou část uzavírá kapitola, která se zaobírá edukačními soupravami a stavebnicemi využívající zmíněné zařízení. Praktická část se věnuje samotnému návrhu a tvorbě prototypu a dále koncepci, návrhu a tvorbě sady úloh na rozvoj algoritmického myšlení. Závěrečná část práce popisuje evaluaci navrženého prototypu a sady úloh v reálné výuce.

Abstract:

The present thesis deals with a design of a prototype of an electronic device that has to serve as an aid for teaching in the field of Informatics for the primary school pupils. A considerable part of the thesis introduces the instructions for the device´s construction and a set of tasks that are aimed at developing computational thinking with the ephasis on the algorithmic thinking. The prototype was designed using the Micro:bit platform, which is a small programmable computer that contains a variety of components such as LEDs, buttons, microphone, compass, but also accelerometer. Firstly, the thesis theoretically discusses informatics and algorithmic thinking, later, it describes the Micro:bit microcomputer itself, its history and the individual parts of which it is composed. The various types of environments and editors that make Micro:bit to be programmed are also described. The theoretical part is closed by a chapter that deals with the usage of educational kits, using the mentioned device. The practical part is devoted to the creation of the prototype, as well as its conception, design and the following set of tasks to induce the algorithmic thinking. The final part of the thesis describes the evaluation of the designed prototype and the set of tasks used in the real life teaching.
