The influence of lesbian porn consumption on the prejudices of heterosexual men against homosexuals.

Abstract:

Cílem této práce bylo zjistit, zda mají heterosexuální muži více předsudků vůči gayům než lesbám v souvislosti s konzumací lesbického porna. V teoretické části práce jsou shrnuty poznatky, které jsou klíčové pro pochopení tematiky práce. Jedná se o poznatky vyplývající ze studií týkajících se pornografického průmyslu, konzumace pornografie, předsudků vůči LGBTQ+ komunitě a předsudků heterosexuálních mužů vůči homosexuálům ve spojitosti s konzumací lesbické pornografie. V empirické části práce prezentujeme korelační studii provedenou na vzorku 152 heterosexuálních mužů starších osmnácti let. Respondenti vyplňovali online dotazníkovou baterii sestávající ze škály moderní homonegativity (MHS), měřící postoje respondentů vůči homosexuálům, škály měřící míru konzumace pornografie – The Consumption of Pornography Scale – General (COPS-G), škály měřící míru maskulinních a feminních rysů respondentů – The Bem Sex Role Inventory a série neexplicitních snímků z pornografických filmů, které sloužily k prozkoumání preferencí jednotlivých druhů pornografie. Data byla zpracována pomocí korelační analýzy. Byl potvrzen nepříliš těsný pozitivní vztah mezi proměnnými Maskulinita respondentů a Negativní postoje vůči gayům a zanedbatelný pozitivní vztah mezi proměnnými Maskulinita respondentů a Negativní postoje vůči lesbám. Proměnné Oblíbenosti lesbického porna a Míra vzrušení při konzumaci lesbického porna neměly na četnost negativních postojů vůči gayům a lesbám statisticky významný vliv. Tyto závěry potvrzují souvislost větší míry maskulinních rysů u mužů s četnějšími negativními postoji vůči gayům a otevírají cestu dalšímu zkoumání souvislostí konzumace pornografie, míry maskulinity či feminity mužů a předsudků vůči homosexuálům.

Abstract:

The aim of this thesis was to find out whether heterosexual men have more prejudices against gays than lesbians in connection with the consumption of lesbian porn. The theoretical part of the thesis summarizes the findings that are key to understanding the topic of the thesis. These are findings from studies related to the pornography industry, the consumption of pornography, prejudices against the LGBTQ + community, and the prejudices of heterosexual men against homosexuals in connection with the consumption of lesbian pornography. In the empirical part of the thesis we present a correlation study performed on a sample of 152 heterosexual men over the age of eighteen. Respondents filled in an online questionnaire consisting of the Modern Homonegativity Scale (MHS), measuring respondent‘s attitudes toward homosexuals, the Consumption of Pornography Scale - General (COPS-G), the scale of masculine and feminine traits of respondents - The Bem Sex Role Inventory and a series of nonexplicit pictures from pornographic films, used to explore the individual preferences of different types of pornography. The data were processed using correlation analysis. The not very close positive relationship between the variables Masculinity of respondents and Negative attitudes towards gays and the negligible positive relationship between the variables Masculinity of respondents and Negative attitudes towards lesbians were confirmed. The variables Lesbian porn popularity and Excitement of lesbian porn consumption did not have a statistically significant effect on the frequency of negative attitudes towards gays and lesbians. These findings confirm the link between greater levels of masculine traits in men and more negative attitudes towards gays and pave the way for further research into the context of pornography consumption, the degree of masculinity or femininity of men, and prejudice against homosexuals.
