The Enemy in Czech Heroic and Chivalrous Epic: A Monster

Abstract:

Práce se zaměřuje na průnik metafor nepřítel a monstrum v české hrdinské a rytířské epice, zkoumá možnosti uchopení těchto motivů a jejich dešifrace a pokouší se o typologii motivů podle jejich funkce v literárním díle. Rozlišuje funkci danou vnitřním světem a funkci alegorickou. Hlavní teze práce - spekulace o možném významu motivu jako karikatury existujícího typu postav smyslového světa – se ukázala aplikovatelná pouze na jeden ze zkoumaných motivů. Potvrdila se tedy jako jeden z možných způsobů dešifrace.

Abstract:

The work focuses on the blend of the enenemy metaphor and the monster metaphor in Czech heroic and chivalrous epic, investigating the possible conceptions of these motives and the possible ways of their deciphering. The work also aims to determine the typology of the motives according to their function in a literary work, distinguishing a function given by the inner world and an alegoric function. The principal thesis of the work, a reflecion on a possible meaning of the motives as a caricature of an existing character in the real world, has shown as aplicable only in case of one of the analyzed motives, resulting to be one possible way of their deciphering.
