Czech national identity in the context of europeanisation processes

Abstract:

Tato práce popisuje v současné době často užívané slovo identita z pozice odborníků, zkoumá její národní, kulturní a etnickou rovinu. Dále definuje českou národní identitu způsobem tvorby skupinové identity vymezováním proti jiným skupinám, zkoumá dopady dávné minulosti a komunistické diktatury na současné pojetí české národní identity, moc symbolů a národního vědomí Čechů. Zkoumá typicky české fenomény, jako víkendové chalupaření a sbor dobrovolných hasičů. Práce poukazuje na zvláštnosti vztahu veřejnosti ke své politické reprezentaci a představitelům opozice za dob komunismu, popisuje sametovou revoluci a v závěru uvádí názory české společnosti na národní otázky. Konečně se zaměřuje na popis evropeizace jako probíhajícího a současně žádaného procesu spojeného s evropskou integrací, jeho dopady a možný budoucí vývoj. Zkoumá její konkrétní dopad na české pohraničí a všechny získané informace uvádí do kontextu.

Abstract:

This work describes the widely used word identity and examines its national, cultural and ethnic level. Furthermore, it defines the Czech national identity as a way to create a group identity by opposing other groups, examines the effects of long past and the communistic dictatorship on the current concept of czech national identity, the power of symbols and national awareness of Czechs. It examines phenomena typical for the czech nature, like cottaging and voluntary firefighters associations. The work points out the peculiarity of the public regard to its political representation and to representatives of the opposition in the communist era, it describes the velvet revolution and its impact on attitudes of the czech public to national matters. And finally it focuses on description of the europeanisation as a pending process aligned with the european integration, its effects and possible future development. The work examines its particular impact on czech borderland and put it in context with all acquired knowledge.
