Diploma work clarifies problems of preimplantation genetic diagnosis (PGD), an alternative to prenatal diagnosis, which circumvents the problem of therapeutic abortion and allows selection of unaffected embryos for establishing pregnancies in couples at risk for transmitting a genetic disorder.
