Attitude of social workers to use their education while working with beneficiaries of material need

Abstract:

Diplomová práce se zabývá postojem, který zaujímají sociální pracovníci ke svému vzdělání při práci s příjemci dávek hmotné nouze. V teoretické části je definován pojem sociální pracovník, jeho vzdělání, dále je popsáno poslání Asociace vzdělavatelů v sociální práci, Minimální standard vzdělávání v sociální práci, vzdělání pro sociální práci s klienty v hmotné nouzi a další pojmy související s hlavní výzkumnou otázkou včetně konceptu postoje. Výzkum byl založený na kvalitativní výzkumné metodě a realizován technikou polostrukturovaného rozhovoru s třinácti respondenty – sociálními pracovníky Úřadu práce ČR, městského úřadu a s jejich vedoucími. Analýza a interpretace získaných dat je provedena pomocí otevřeného a axiálního kódování. Z výzkumu vyplývá, že sociální pracovníci považují svoje vzdělání za základ pro sociální práci, při konkrétní práci s příjemci dávek hmotné nouze teorie a metody sociální práce, které se ve škole naučili, reflektují, ale ne vždy je umí do praxe přenést. Za omezující vliv na využití svého vzdělání považují sociální pracovníci mimo jiné i rozdělení sociální práce s příjemci dávek hmotné nouze mezi Úřad práce a obce. V závěru práce je zodpovězená hlavní výzkumná otázka a doporučení pro praxi a pro další výzkum.

Abstract:

The thesis is focused on the attitude of social workers to use their education while working with beneficiaries of material need. In the theoretical part the term of a social worker and his education is characterised. Further, the mission of the Association of Educators in Social Work, Minimum standard of education in social work, education for social work with clients in material need and other terms related to the main research question, including the concept of attitudes is described. The research was based on qualitative research methods and realized semistructured interview technique with thirteen respondents - social workers of the Labour Office of the Czech Republic, the Municipal Authority and their leaders. Analysis and interpretation of the data is performed using open and axial coding. Research shows that social workers consider their education as a basis for social work. In particular working with the beneficiaries of material need social workers reflect theories and methods of social work learned in school, but they are not always able to transfer them into practice. Social workers consider, besides other things, the division of social work with beneficiaries of material need allowances between the Labour Office and the municipalities as a limiting effect on the utilization of their education. In conclusion, the main research question and recommendations for practice and for further research is responded.
