Assessment of occurrence of the Pygmy mangold beetle in years 2008-2018

Abstract:

Maločlenec čárkovitý škodí především na porostech cukrové řepy. Škodí dospělí jedinci vykusováním jamek na hypokotylu a koříncích. Později okusují i děložní listy. Od fáze čtyř pravých listů již řepě neškodí. Preventivní opatření proti maločlenci čárkovitému spočívá v důsledné agrotechnice, dodržování odstupu pěstování cukrové řepy po sobě na stejném pozemku je základním faktorem. Dále se doporučuje včasné setí, které urychluje růst mladých rostlin. Důležitá je také výživa. V současné době k ochraně cukrové řepy proti maločlenci čárkovitému jsou k dispozici pouze dvě registrované účinné látky. Jedná se o látku ,,tefluthirin“, která je určena k moření osiva, tato účinná látka je registrována do konce roku 2025. Druhá látka je ze skupiny pyrethroidů, konkrétně ,,lambda-cyhalothrin“, která je registrovaná do 31. 3. 2024, tato účinná látka je určena k insekticidnímu ošetřování cukrové řepy tzv. ,,na list“ a je obsažena ve třech přípravcích na ochranu rostlin. V roce 2008 byl prováděn monitoring na jedenácti lokalitách, z těchto lokalit byl prokázán slabý výskyt pod prahem škodlivosti na sedmi z nich, což je 63 %. V roce 2009 byl výskyt slabší než v roce předchozím, z patnácti sledovaných lokalit se výskyt pod prahem škodlivosti potvrdil na čtyřech z nich, což je 26 %. Rok 2010 byl pro maločlenec příznivější, na pěti lokalitách se potvrdil slabý výskyt (23 %), na dvou lokalitách (v okrese Jičín a Rychnov nad Kněžnou) dokonce škodlivý výskyt (9 %) a na jedné lokalitě pouze výskyt (4,5 %). V roce 2011 zaznamenali inspektoři slabý výskyt pod prahem škodlivosti na dvou lokalitách z deseti sledovaných (20 %) a na jedné byl zaznamenán výskyt škůdce (10 %). V roce 2012 se maločlenci také dařilo, z dvanácti sledovaných lokalit byl potvrzen výskyt pod prahem škodlivosti na 5 lokalitách (41,6 %). Následující rok 2013 byl opět příznivý, ze třinácti lokalit byl výskyt maločlenec čárkovitého pod prahem škodlivosti potvrzen na sedmi lokalitách (54 %). Od roku 2014 se výskyt maločlenec čárkovitého držel pod 20 %. V roce 2014 se výskyt pod prahem škodlivosti potvrdil na čtyřech sledovaných lokalit z dvaceti pozorovaných (20 %). V roce 2015 výskyt klesl na 13 %. Výskyt pod prahem škodlivosti se potvrdil na dvou lokalitách z patnácti pozorovaných. Rok 2016 byl mírně příznivější pro maločlenec čárkovitého, jeho výskyt stoupl na 16,6 %, z dvanácti pozorovaných lokalit byl zaznamenán slabý výskyt pod prahem škodlivosti na dvou z nich. V roce 2017 opět mírný vzestup na 18 %, z jedenácti sledovaných lokalit byl zaznamenán slabý výskyt pod prahem škodlivosti na dvou sledovaných lokalitách. V posledním roce sledovaného období výskyt maločlenec čárkovitého klesl na 10 %, z deseti sledovaných lokalit se potvrdil výskyt pod prahem škodlivosti na jedné lokalitě. V roce 2018 byl Ústředním kontrolním a zkušebním ústavem zemědělských monitoring maločlenec čárkovitého ukončen.

Abstract:

Pygmy mangold beetle causes damage especially to sugar beet cover. The mature specimens cause the damage by biting holes in the hypocotyl and rootlets. Later, they gnaw also cotyledons. Nevertheless, from the four-leaves stage on, the mature specimens do not harm the sugar beet. Precautions against the Pygmy mangold beetle consist in thoroughgoing agro technology, where maintaining the due intervals between in-sequence growing of the sugar beet on the same land is the essential factor. Timely seeding is also being recommended, since it speeds up the growth of young plants. Nutrition is important as well. Currently, only two registered agents are available for the purposes of protection of sugar beet against the Pygmy mangold beetle. The first of these two agents is “tefluthrin” which is earmarked for staining of seeds. This particular agent is registered until the end of 2025. The second agent – “lamda-cyhalothrin” – registered until 31st March 2024 and belonging to the group of chemicals called pyrethroids, is meant for insecticidal, so called “on leaf” treatment of sugar beet. This particular agent is contained in three plant-protecting preparations. In 2008, a monitoring of eleven locations was conducted. Feeble occurrence under the threshold of harmfulness was ascertained in seven of those localities, which is 63 %. In 2009, the ascertained occurrence was lower than in the previous year – the occurrence under the threshold of harmfulness was ascertained in four in fifteen monitored localities, which is 26 %. The year 2010 was more favourable for the Pygmy mangold beetle, since the feeble occurrence was ascertained in five localities (23 %), even harmful occurrence was ascertained in two localities - district of Jičín and Rychnov nad Kněžnou (9 %) and just occurrence was ascertained in one locality (4,5 %). In 2011, the inspectors detected feeble occurrence under the threshold of harmfulness in two in ten monitored localities (20 %) and just occurrence of the pest was detected in one locality (10 %). In 2012, the Pygmy mangold beetle also thrived, as its occurrence under the threshold of harmfulness was ascertained in five in twelve monitored localities (41,6 %). The next year (2013) was favourable again, the occurrence of the Pygmy mangold beetle under the threshold of harmfulness was ascertained in seven in thirteen monitored localities (54 %). Since 2014, the occurrence of the Pygmy mangold beetle has been remaining stable under 20 %. In 2014, the occurrence under the threshold of harmfulness was ascertained in four in twenty monitored localities (20 %). In 2015, the occurrence decreased to 13 %, since the occurrence under the threshold of harmfulness was ascertained in two in fifteen monitored localities. The year 2016 was slightly more favourable for the Pygmy mangold beetle – its occurrence rose up to 16,6 % as the feeble occurrence under the threshold of harmfulness was detected in two in twelve monitored localities. The year 2017 meant a slight increase to 18 %, since the feeble occurrence under the threshold of harmfulness was detected in two in eleven monitored localities. The occurrence of the Pygmy mangold beetle decreased to 10 % during the last year of the period of monitoring, for its occurrence under the threshold of harmfulness was ascertained in one in ten monitored localities. The monitoring of the Pygmy mangold beetle was ended by the Central Institute for Supervising and Testing in Agriculture in 2018.
