Fighting in Mogadishu between 1992-1994 from the Urban Guerilla point of view

Abstract:

Práce je snahou o porovnání obecného konceptu městské guerilly s reáliemi bojů v somálském hlavním městě Grozném mezi lety 1992 – 1994. Text se věnuje vymezení hlavních znaků městské guerilly, jejímu odlišení od jiných variant povstaleckého boje, a vybraným taktickým prvkům charakterizujícím městské guerillové válečnictví. Prostor je dále věnován situaci v Somálsku před vypuknutím sledovaného konfliktu i v jeho průběhu. V rámci konfliktu se práce zaměřuje na samotnou městskou guerillu v Mogadišu – její rysy, specifika, a užívané taktiky. Nashromážděná data z obecného konceptu městské guerilly a její specifické somálské varianty jsou na závěr textu vztažena k sobě navzájem prostřednictvím komparace homogenity/heterogenity obou konceptů.

Abstract:

The thesis aims to compare the general urban guerrilla concept with the realms of the fighting in the Somalian capital Mogadishu in the years 1992 - 1994. The text is dedicated to the definition of the essential features of urban guerrilla, its distinction from other variants of insurgent warfare and selected tactics characterizing the urban guerrilla warfare. Attention is also paid to the situation in Somalia prior to outbreak of the conflict and during it. Within the conflict itself, the thesis is focused on the urban guerrilla in Mogadishu, in particular to its features, specifics, and tactics employed. The data gathered in respect to the general urban guerrilla concept and its specific Somalian variant are interrelated through comparison of homogeneity / heterogeneity of the concepts in question.
