The realization of infrastructure used for building of SW projects using virtal environment of VMWare products

Abstract:

Dokument popisuje návrh a realizaci infrastruktury pro buildování SW projektů využívající virtuálního prostředí produktů firmy VMware. Dokument seznamuje čtenáře s použitými technologiemi a možnostmi, které virtuální prostředí přináší včetně možnosti centrální správy celé infrastruktury a buildovacích procesů. Původní decentralizovaný systém pro buildování SW projektů byl založen na samostatně spravovaných počítačích, které již výkonem nedostačovaly novým požadavkům a jejich administrace byla časově náročná. Pouhá výměna počítačů by, vzhledem ke specifikům buildovacího procesu, vedla k systému, kde jsou hardwarové zdroje využívány pouze zčásti a jejich výkon leží ladem. Byl vytvořen zcela nový systém, jehož základem je virtuální prostředí. Systém je založen na již využívaných technologiích ve firmě. Jsou použity produkty firmy VMware pro vytvoření virtuálního prostředí, základním operačním systémem je Microsoft Windows XP a dílčí části systému centrální správy jsou napsány v jazyce Perl.

Abstract:

The document describes design and implementation of SW project building infrastructure using virtual environment created by the VMware products. Used technologies and capabilities that are offered by virtual environment including central management of whole infrastructure and building process are shown to the reader. The original decentralized system for building SW projects has been founded on the standalone computers with poor performance for the new requests and the administration of them was time-consuming. The system where the available power will be used only partly will be created by changing the computers only because the build process specificity. The new system has been created based on virtual environment. The system is using company available resources. The VMware products have been used to create virtual environment, The Microsoft Windows XP is primary operating system and the central management of whole infrastructure is written in the Perl.
