Rehabilitation program of an elderly patient following revision surgery of a reverse shoulder prosthesis: clinical case

Abstract:

In this paper I will treat some of the pathologies of the shoulder, which can lead to the application of an arthroplasty, I will especially analyze the reverse prosthesis of the glenohumeral joint, a prosthesis that the patient had to apply that I will treat during the explanation of the clinical case with the which I worked during my internship. The thesis work will start by treating the anatomy of the shoulder and its biomechanics, I will then move on to the explanation of the various shoulder pathologies that can lead to having to replace the damaged parts with a prosthesis, comparing the various types of prostheses, especially referring to the application of the reverse portesis. I will address the post-operative recovery physiotherapy treatments, focusing in particular on the problems of discrepancy that these interventions can leave behind. Finally, I will present the clinical case of G. L., a patient who presents an upper limb discrepancy after the reverse prosthesis revision surgery. This paper of mine has the aim, therefore, to show the rehabilitation protocol that I used in the treatment of the patient after a revision surgery of a reverse shoulder prosthesis, with consequent leg length discrepancy and how the patient returned home in complete autonomy.

Abstract:

In questo elaborato andr? a trattare alcune delle patologie della spalla, che possono portare all'applicazione di una artroprotesi, analizzer? specialmente la protesi inversa della articolazione gleno - omerale, protesi che ha dovuto applicare la paziente del caso clinico che esaminer? nel corso di questa tesi e con la quale ho lavorato durante il mio periodo di tirocinio. Il lavoro di tesi inizier? trattando l'anatomia della spalla e la sua biomeccanica, passer? poi alla spiegazione delle varie patologie della spalla che possono portare a dover sostituire le parti danneggiate con una protesi, mettendo a confronto le varie tipologie di protesi, facendo specialmente riferimento all'applicazione della portesi inversa. Affronter? i trattamenti fisioterapici di recupero post - operatorio, approfondendo in particolare le problematiche di dismetria che questi interventi possono lasciare. In fine presenter? il caso clinico di G. L., una paziente che dopo l'intervento di revisione di protesi inversa presenta dismetria dell'arto superiore. Questo mio elaborato ha l'obiettivo, quindi, di mostrare il protocollo riabilitativo che ho usato nel trattamento della paziente, dopo un intervento di revisione di una protesi inversa alla spalla, con conseguente dismetria dell'arto e di come la paziente ? tornata a domicilio in completa autonomia.
