Age-heterogeneous composition of classes from the perspective of kindergarten teachers

Abstract:

Cílem této práce je představit věkově heterogenní složení tříd perspektivou učitelek mateřských škol. Práce je rozdělena na část teoretickou a empirickou. Teoretická část se zabývá klíčovými tématy spojenými s cílem práce. Konkrétně zde představuji organizaci předškolního vzdělávání nejen v České republice, či definici heterogenního vzdělávání. V souvislosti s tématem se teoretická část zabývá také dílčím tématem, a to problematikou začleňování dvouletých dětí do mateřských škol. Jsou představeny dosud získané poznatky z těchto oblastí napříč výzkumy. Empirická část zahrnuje analýzu výsledků kvalitativního výzkumu, který přináší odpovědi na otázku, jak učitelky vnímají heterogenní složení tříd v mateřských školách. Respondentky byly učitelky mateřské školy, které měly zkušenost jak s heterogenním, tak s homogenním vzděláváním v mateřských školách. Výsledky výzkumného šetření jsou prezentovány v následujících okruzích: příprava, dění ve třídě, dvouleté děti, heterogenní složení tříd a faktory ovlivňující heterogenní složení tříd. Výsledky odkrývají nejen výhody a nevýhody heterogenního vzdělávání perspektivou učitelek, ale i vnímanou subjektivní připravenost učitelek pro výuku ve věkově smíšených třídách.

Abstract:

The aim of this bachelor’s work is to present the age-heterogeneous composition of classes from the perspective of kindergarten teachers. The work is divided into theoretical and empirical parts. The theoretical part deals with the key topics associated with the aim of the work. Specifically, I present the organization of preschool education in the Czech Republic and other countries along with the definition of heterogeneous education. Concerning the topic, the theoretical part also deals with a subtopic, namely with the matter of two-year-olds. There is introduced the knowledge which was obtained so far in these areas across research. The empirical section includes an analysis of the results of qualitative research, which provides answers to the question of how teachers perceive the heterogeneous composition of classes in kindergartens. The respondents were kindergarten teachers with had experience in both heterogeneous and homogeneous kindergarten education. The results of the research are presented in the following areas: preparation, class events, two-year-olds, heterogeneous class composition and factors influencing heterogeneous class composition. The results show not only the advantages and disadvantages of heterogeneous education from the perspective of teachers but also their subjective views of readiness for teaching in these classes.
