Evaluation of the Investment Project Effectiveness

Abstract:

Smyslem této diplomové práce bylo komplexně posoudit efektivnost vybraného investičního projektu iQFABLAB skrze příslušné metody a zároveň provést analýzu citlivosti zvoleného ukazatele efektivnosti. Investiční projekt provozuje společnost IQLANDIA, o.p.s. a jelikož je obecně prospěšnou společností, je efektivnost hodnocena jak z hlediska finančních, tak i socioekonomických užitků. Životnost investičního projektu je odhadnuta na 4,5 roku, proto výpočty odráží časový horizont mezi lety 2019 – 2023. Práce se sestává ze dvou celistvých částí. V první, teoretické kapitole jsou charakterizovány základní prvky investičního rozhodování, velká pozornost je soustředěna na zdroje financování, konkrétně pak na podporu ze strukturálních a investičních fondů Evropské unie. V závěru první části jsou specifikovány vybrané metody hodnocení efektivnosti. Druhá kapitola se zaměřuje na praktickou stránku problematiky. Nejprve je představena společnost IQLANDIA, o.p.s., dále je popsán světoznámý koncept FabLab a posléze se pozornost soustřeďuje na samotný investiční projekt iQFABLAB. Z poskytnutých dat jsou následně vypočítány veškeré indikátory a ze zjištěných výsledků je provedeno celkové zhodnocení efektivnosti investičního projektu. Citlivostní analýza zkoumá vliv změny peněžních příjmů, kapitálových výdajů a diskontní sazby na vybraný ukazatel efektivnosti. Závěr druhé kapitoly pak obsahuje nástin doporučení na možná zlepšení, které by měly přispět k příznivějšímu budoucímu vývoji investičního projektu.

Abstract:

The purpose of this master thesis has been to comprehensively assess the effectiveness of the selected investment project iQFABLAB through the appropriate methods and simultaneously to carry out a sensitivity analysis of the selected efficiency indicator. The investment project is operated by IQLANDIA, o.p.s. and as it is a public benefit society, efficiency is evaluated in terms of both financial and socio-economic benefits. The life of the investment project is estimated at 4.5 years, so the calculations reflect the time horizon between years 2019 - 2023. The thesis consists of two integral parts. The first, theoretical chapter characterizes the basic elements of investment decision-making, great attention is paid to sources of funding, specifically to support from the structural and investment funds of the European Union. At the end of the first part, selected methods of efficiency evaluation are specified. The second chapter focuses on the practical side of the issue. First of all, the company IQLANDIA, o.p.s. is introduced, further the world-famous concept of FabLab is described and hereafter the attention is paid to the investment project iQFABLAB itself. From the provided data, all indicators are subsequently calculated and from the obtained results an overall evaluation of the investment project effectiveness is performed. The sensitivity analysis examines the effect of changes in cash receipts, capital expenditures and the discount rate on a selected efficiency indicator. The conclusion of the second chapter then outlines recommendations for possible improvements that should contribute to a more favourable future development of the investment project.
