MOBILIZE IT! Use of mobile digital interfaces in gallery education

Abstract:

Diploma thesis MOBILIZE IT! Use of mobile digital interfaces in gallery education focused and examined mobile digital interfaces and the ways how to use them in the context of gallery education. The work followed two lines of interpretation. The first line following how the physical form of the computer was transformed from 40s of the 20th century and how computer transformed from a tool into metamedium or “software” (Lev Manovich). The second line following the tendency of cultural institutions preparing and presenting exhibition projects with educational extension so-called educational turn (Irit Rogoff, Paul O’Neil a Mick Wilson). At the junction of these lines is presented the curator of contemporary art, gallery animation and projects that incorporated computers into art mediation. The work combined methods of heuristics and case study. The case study presented an educational program DJ Curator realized during the Brave New World exhibition presented at DOX Centre for Contemporary Art at the turn of the year 2014/2015. The aim of this study was to introduce mobile digital interface as a means that allows the transformation of the perception of art into its postproduction (Nicolas Bourriaud) at the moment of the gallery visit connected with guided tour.

Diplomová práca Mobilize it! (Mobilizuj to!) Použitie mobilných digitálnych rozhraní v galerijnej edukácii sa zamerala na a skúmala mobilné digitálne rozhrania a možnosti ich využitia v rámci galerijnej edukácie. Práca sledovala dve línie výkladu. V rámci prvej línie to, ako sa od 40. rokov 20. storočia premenila fyzická podoba počítača (hardware) a ako sa tento premenil z nástroja v metamédium či „software“ (Lev Manovich). V rámci druhej línie sledovala tendenciu kultúrnych inštitúcií pripravujúcich a predstavujúcich výstavné projekty s edukačným presahom tzv. edukatívny obrat (Irit Rogoff, Paul O’Neil a Mick Wilson). Na spojnici týchto línií predstavila kurátora súčasného umenia, galerijnú animáciu a projekty využívajúce počítače na sprostredkovanie umenia. Kombinovala metódu heuristiky a prípadovej štúdie. Prípadová štúdia predstavila vzdelávací program DJ Kurátor, ktorý bol realizovaný v Centre súčasného umenia DOX v rámci výstavy Skvelý nový svet na prelome rokov 2014/2015. Cieľom tejto štúdie bolo predstaviť mobilné digitálne rozhranie ako prostriedok, ktorý umožňuje premenu percepcie umenia v jeho postprodukciu (Nicolas Bourriaud) v momente návštevy výstavy spojenej s lektorským výkladom.
