Art and culture in Czech prisons

Abstract:

Diplomová práce s názvem Umění a kultura v českých věznicích se zabývá rozšířením kultury a umění v prostředí českých věznic, především pak rozvoji arteterapeutické praxe a jejím vlivům. Autor definuje arteterapii jako psychoterapeutickou metodu, včetně jejich cílů a funkcí. Dále je představeno české vězeňství a jeho základní ukazatele. Praktická část práce pak prostřednictvím obsahové analýzy kvalitativní metody zpracovává posbíraná data dotazníkovým šetřením s otevřenými otázkami. Tyto dotazníky vyplňované zaměstnanci Vězeňské služby České republiky, kteří se věnují problémům penologické činnosti, se pak věnují rozšířenosti umění, kultury a arteterapie v českých nápravných zařízeních. Z tohoto výstupu je pak zpracována stručná analýza nejpodstatnějších závěrů.

Abstract:

The master thesis, entitled Art and Culture in Czech Prisons, deals with the expansion of culture and art in the environment of Czech prisons, especially with the development of art therapeutic practice and its influences. The author defines art therapy as a psychotherapeutic method, including its goals and functions. In addition, the author describes the Czech prison system and its basic indicators are presented. The practical part of the work, through the content analysis of the qualitative method, processes the data collected with a questionnaire survey with open questions. These questionnaires filled out by staff of the Prison Service of the Czech Republic, which deal with problems of penological activity, are mapping the widespread of art, culture and art therapy in Czech correctional institutions. A brief analysis of the most important conclusions is then prepared from this output.
