Influence of logical thinking level on nature science literacy level of 10-11 years old pupils

Abstract:

Diplomová práce se zabývá dvěma fenomény současného vzdělávání - přírodovědnou gramotností a logickým myšlením. Hlavním cílem této práce bylo zjistit, zdali existuje vztah mezi úrovní logického myšlení a úrovní přírodovědné gramotnosti u žáků základních škol věku 10 - 11 let. Teoretická část této práce je zaměřena na popis a definice pojmu přírodovědná gramotnost, popis jednotlivých složek přírodovědné gramotnosti a zařazení tohoto fenoménu do systému základního vzdělávání a kurikulárních dokumentů českého školství. Dále popisuje kognitivní procesy jedince se zvláštním důrazem na problematiku logického myšlení a v neposlední řadě problematiku metakognice a metakognitivních strategií, která s logickým myšlením úzce souvisí. Praktická část je zaměřena na zjištění úrovně přírodovědné gramotnosti, úrovně logického myšlení u 296 žáků základních škol ve věku 10 - 11 let, kteří se výzkumu zúčastnili. Následným zpracováním empirických dat byla prokázána těsnost vztahu mezi těmito dvěma fenomény a na zkoumaném vzorku bylo prokázáno, že úroveň logického myšlení statisticky významným způsobem ovlivňuje úroveň přírodovědné gramotnosti.

Abstract:

The thesis examines two phenomena of contemporary education - natural science literacy and logical thinking. The main objective of this work was to establish whether there is a relationship between the level of logical thinking and the level of natural science literacy among primary school pupils aged 10 - 11 years. The theoretical part of this thesis focuses on the description and definition of the concept of natural science literacy and the description of individual elements of natural science literacy as well as the inclusion of this phenomenon in the national curriculum for primary and secondary education in the Czech education system. It also describes the cognitive processes of the individual with an emphasis on the issue of logical thinking as well as the issue of metacognition and metacognitive strategies, which are closely related to logical thinking. The empirical part focuses on establishing the level of natural science literacy and the level of logical thinking of 296 primary school pupils aged 10 - 11 who participated in the research. The subsequent processing of the empirical data revealed a close relationship between the two phenomena and the analysed data proved that the level of logical thinking affects the level of natural science literacy statistically in a significant way.
