The impact of coagulase- negative staphylococci (CoNS) was for a long time overshadowed by one of the most dangerous pathogens, which is S. aureus. Význam koaguláza- negatívnych stafylokokov (KNS) bol po dlhý čas zatienený jedným z najnebezpečnejších patogénov, akým je S. aureus. Avšak v súčasnosti patria KNS medzi pôvodcov rôznych nozokomiálnych infekcii, ktoré sú spojené s tvorbou biofilmu na umelých telových náhradách alebo nástrojoch.
