Productions of Baroque Operas in the Czech Republic and the United Kingdom

Abstract:

Cílem této diplomové práce je komparativní analýza problematiky uvádění inscenací barokních oper v České republice a ve Spojeném království Velké Británie a Severního Irska. První část práce se věnuje historii provozování barokních oper od počátku 20. století. Druhá část práce mapuje veškeré inscenace, které byly provedeny na území obou států v budovách operních divadel i na hudebních či operních festivalech. Ve třetí části práce je zhodnocen kruciální prvek této práce, a tím je kvalitativní výzkum, který byl veden formou strukturovaných rozhovorů s dramaturgy všech českých operních domů.

Abstract:

The aim of this diploma thesis is the comparative analysis of the Baroque opera staging production particularities in the Czech Republic and in the United Kingdom. The first part focuses on the history of Baroque opera production since the beginning of the 20th century. The subsequent section represents a thorough survey of all stagings produced in the opera houses and on both music and exclusively opera festivals on the territory of the states in question. In the third part, the crucial constituent of the thesis is assessed, it being qualitative research conducted through structured interviews with dramaturges of all Czech opera houses.
