This thesis deals with the role of the body in British Gothic fiction of the eighteenth and nineteenth century and its development. Tato práce se zabývá rolí těla v britské gotické fikci osmnáctého a devatenáctého století a jejím vývojem. První část práce se zabývá žánrovým vymezením Gotické literatury, estetickými a psychologickými přístupy a rozdělením gotického těla.
